Symptoms

Miele oven problems we fix

  • Slow heat-up, or set temperature never reached
  • MasterChef programs finishing late or overcooked
  • Weak steam or constant descale requests
  • Door locked after self-clean
  • Speed oven not heating with microwaves

Cause

Why it happens

Each element switches through its own relay: a broken element weakens one mode, while a welded relay holds an element on. MasterChef programs rely on the cavity sensor to hold their temperatures, so when it drifts, dishes change with nothing visibly broken. Scale chokes steam generators until steam fades. A speed oven’s high-voltage circuit can stay charged after power-off; never open one.

What the technician does

  • Check real cavity temperature with an independent thermocouple
  • Measure each element and the cavity sensor, cold and hot
  • Run fans, cycle the door lock, test interlocks with power isolated
  • On steam ovens, check the pump, steam generator and drain path

Call right away if

  • An element glowing, or heating while switched off
  • A burning wiring smell, or the breaker tripping on heat-up
  • A speed oven arcing, or a steam oven leaking onto cabinetry

Between visits

  • Enter your water hardness in the steam oven’s settings and descale when asked.
  • Keep the cooling vents around the door clear; don’t drape towels over the handle.

Repair or replace?

A built-in oven is sized to its cabinet, and a different model rarely fits without joinery, so repair is the sensible default. Harder calls: scarce boards or displays on older generations, and steam ovens damaged by neglected scale.

Miele models we work on

6000 and 7000 generation wall ovens, including MasterChef models, plus combination steam, steam, speed and Moisture Plus ovens. Older units where parts remain available.

Questions

Miele oven repair questions

My oven runs hot or cold. Can that be fixed?

Usually. We measure the cavity with our own thermocouple through a full heat-up. A drifted sensor is replaced, since no adjustment makes it read true.

Why does my steam oven keep asking for descaling?

The reminder follows use and the water-hardness setting, so a hardness set too high brings it early. If it returns right after a full descale, scale or a sensor needs checking.

The door is locked after self-clean. Should I force it?

No; that can bend hinges or crack glass. Wait until the oven is cold, then cut power at the breaker for a minute. Still locked? The lock motor or switch likely needs replacing.
